How to Host a Course
Hosting A Course
What Are The Benefits of Hosting A Course?#
In addition to receiving a rebate of $70 per participant, course hosts can showcase their facility, network with local coaches, and upskill staff without added travel costs. As a long-time leader in weightlifting education, USAW has certified thousands of coaches and holds hundreds of courses every year to educate coaches across a multitude of sports, trainers, fitness professionals, military personnel, and athletes. If your gym meets the requirements below, we would be honored to work with you.
Level 1 Host Facility Requirements
- A platform or rubberized space, light bumper plates, and an Olympic-style barbell for every 3 course participants
- A projector and screen/wall or large TV, seating, and a dedicated area for hands-on lifting portions of the course
General Course Information#
Course Duration
Courses are typically run over two days on a weekend with hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and 8:00am to 2:00pm Sunday.
Course Instructors
USAW instructors are expert weightlifting coaches who guide and support participants in building their skills with practical insights and real-world experience.
Hosts may request a USAW course instructor, though she/he is not guaranteed to teach the course. USAQ assigns instrutors to all courses.

USAW requires a minimum of 8 participants to run a course.
The maximum course size can be as large as 40 and is dependent on facility space.
Larger courses will be staffed with multiple USAW instructors.
Private Courses
USAW frequently hosts closed, private courses for schools, fitness facilities, and military installations. Reach out to us at education@usaweightlifting.org to schedule a private course.
