USAW Coach Education BIPOC Community Scholarship Program
USA Weightlifting offers a limited number of tuition scholarships to qualified BIPOC coaches to attend either the Level 1 or Level 2 Coach Certification courses. The scholarship covers the tuition cost of the certifications as well as one year of USAW membership. Any travel-related or non-tuition expenses are not covered. Availability
The number of available awards by WSO/region will be posted once USA Weightlifting receives commitments from each WSO.
Selection Criteria
These scholarships are awarded on the basis of the following criteria.
- Applicants must meet all requirements, deadlines, and complete the scholarship application.
- Applicants who are or plan to work with underserved populations in a weightlifting or sport capacity are preferred.
- Applicants with less than 5 years of coaching experience are preferred.
- Applicants with experience in the sport of weightlifting as an athlete or as a coach are preferred.
- Applicants with high levels of coaching success, social impact through sport, and/or academic achievement in sport are preferred.
Eligibility
Recipients must be US citizens, at least 17 years old, and identify as a member of the BIPOC community.
